good evening folk, gots me a problem maybe one of yall fine mechanics could give me some insite on yalls knowledge. 04 379 pete with power steer turning really easy, yes you read correct, easyyyy. i mean this joker i can turn the steer shaft on the outside one handed, if i grab the shaft and turn it really hard and let go it turns about half a turn before it stops. at the steering wheel maybe a turn and a half if i spin it like if im on wheel of fortune tryna hit that sparkly green triangle but get that bankrupt instead. ive never came across one that turned this easy not even both steer tires in the air. some help would be deeply appreciated

HOLA! Welcome,,,a "Pedrobilt",
, don't think I've ever heard that. Well, you have to remember a power steering pump is nothing more than a hydraulic pump, and subject to wear. 20 years is a long time, what color is the P/S oil? Sounds like turning the wheel or shaft fast is overwhelming the pump. Not sure about "easy", P/S is supposed be easy. You could change the oil, but I'd suspect a worn pump.
