Not everyone is good with a/c, and a/c is expensive for the shops to have good equipment. Unfortunately sometimes you do have look hard for a good shop.

I'm guessing it's the inner seal on the hub... but just guessing.
will have to bring it in and have it done, I don't have the knowledge, tools or experience with this to do it myself.

what can I expect to pay for a job like this, so I don't get taken to the cleaners?

Yes, sounds like a wheel seal. Usually about 2 hours labour depending on how oily everything got. The oil will soak into the brake shoes and ruin them, so you should put new shoes on too.

    hd99_fatboy Thanks this.

got the seal done, changed brake pads and drums on rear axle, both sides. drums were cheap enough and the old ones were worn pretty good, so I just changed em out.
good to go for a while now I hope.

have a great new year, and thanks for the help
