Owner removed regen canister and is running straight pipe, which initially worked fine, but now the truck is reporting soot level critically high and has derated massively. Does anyone know what sensor is causing the problem or how to trick this into going away? Which sensor senses the soot level?

you're supposed to have a Differential pressure sensor on the dpf housing being that is all removed i don't know where it would be it has two little pipes coming out of it the only you could possibly trick is put new sensor in and do not put the pipes back so it can just read the same pressure on both ports
justsomeguy Thanks this. -
He's going to try this by having two ports welded into a section of pipe with a restriction of some kind in between them so the 'upstream' sensor would read a higher pressure, simulating the canister. This is the closest thing we can think of that might work. I'm worried the ECU will still flag the readings as untrusted, but it's the best he's got at he moment.

sorry but it's my understanding that the D13 didn't come out until 2008.... my 2007 had the D12 non regen

I get 08/07 mixed up all the time - not my truck. You're probably right that it didn't come out until 2008 and it's probably an 08. It's definitely a d13.flood Thanks this.

I purchased my truck ,Volvo 780 model 2008 in .... June 2007; they always launch the next year model 6-7 months earlier ; dealers already have the 2016 models; I read about some 2008 models built without DPF but D16 motors;flood Thanks this.
