08 780 D13 issue

I have a 2011 Volvo D13 I have the same problem, Can you tell me what was the conclusion to your problem please. Thanks

 

Take it to a Volvo dealer and have the injectors tested. Just to narrow down the causes. Just needs an air test

Hard start is almost always injector cups on a Volvo...

 

That’s true. But hopefully it might be only one or two injectors. Not all of them.

 

I’m having same problem now. Changed injector 3 in Long Beach and soon as I got to vegas had hard starting problem. Would only start with priming or ether. Took it to dealer and they want to replace injectors with complete set install at $8400. Was watching a YouTube video about a guy having hard starting problems and he said he changed the fuel feeder pump. I’m not familiar with Volvo’s but is he referring to fuel pump?

 

Changing only one injector also imbalances the motor if the others have any miles on them.

Having one or two cylinders make more power than the others will cause all kinds of other problems with the motor from flexing like cracked cranks, etc.

Volvo recommends a "6 pack" of injectors normally.

$8400 is about maximum price ... that's way too much. Normally around the $6500 area.

That’s a much better price but he is by Vegas though. Try phoning around the local Volvo and independents to see about pricing. Injectors and cups are pretty much the same price but you might get labor for less maybe.

Anyone who owns a Volvo will sooner or later have to do the injectors.

My Volvo truck has a couple of problems, besides the hard start, when I'm on the high gears 7,8,9, and 10 the truck looses power and it also vibrates. Has anyone experience this before?

 

The weird thing is that when I have it on neutral, the engine runs smooth with no vibration, it only vibrates when it's on the high gears.
