so the authorities dont know, experienced drivers dont know

but satety managers at megas know?

well, count me as one of those "fools" who drives with the flow of traffic, and then add to that, my increased visibility ahead of me and able to see 99% of the nonsense that folks are going to do before they do it (i am good like that, but not perfect)

no one passes me giving me the finger (except if they are merging and want to enter traffic at the last minute)

i am not blocking the flow of traffic to the angst of everyone around me

sndf i havent killed anyone yet

God takes care of babies and fools, i am proud that if this is your definition of being a fool, then thats fine by me

now, on the flip side, drivers that do this "rock in the stream" approach that satefy managers love are nothing but a danger and a nuisance to everyone around them

everyone is going 70mph, and here is THE 55mph SAFETY MAN, causing folks to brake, unsafe lane changes and a host of other unsafe activities

but its great for his insurance company, HE WILL NEVER rear end anyone (except his attention span is cut short because of road hynosis, so he is usually watching a video or talking on the phone with his legs on the dash) but i am sure you are going to install in driver-facing cam to deal with that

Using your logic a truck traveling 60 MPH could travel 660 miles in 11 hours.BS...LOL....You can't use regular math to calculate such problems or there would be no need for such things as algebra, trigonometry and geometry.I do run 75 MPH every day and some days I make 650-675 in 11 but no way could I every make 825 in 11 hours...LOL.

Some experienced drivers know. They're the ones with 400 yards of following distance.

If you think you can predict what unpredictable motorists are going to do next, I think you're delusional. Guessing right doesn't make you clairvoyant.

Who's supposed to care about that???

Right. You're concerned with how people who know less than nothing about "driving" because everything they think they know is wrong think of your driving.

Right. The ol' "I've been getting away with it x years!" Next comes "That's the first time THAT ever happened!"

Ah. Trust in providence! That's pretty professional.

False cause fallacy. No one is forced to change lanes, period, much less "unsafely". The only reason someone has to brake for slower traffic is poor management of momentum. Lifting off the throttle before braking is required eliminates the need for braking.

A "professional" driver considers having to brake on a highway as evidence of their own "mistake". They allowed themselves to become the proverbial "100 kt. pilot in a 200 kt. airplane"; their attention fell behind their momentum.

But, you have tripped over another widely believed myth: "I should never have to decrease velocity."

Ah. The ol' "Driving slower isn't sufficient to command my attention. I need more hazardous conditions or I get bored".

If truck driving was easy, everyone would be good at it.

    i will add this

driving a 62mph truck, with all the slowing down you will do, and on elogs makes achieving 500mi/day a dream

multiply that by 30cpm grosses at about 150/day, after taxes probably $125/day

    good luck to ya

some guys love bringing home $800/week, being out three four weeks at a time, begging their dispatcher if they can go home for two days

A mind has to be willing to change. These aren't "my" views, and I resisted them same as you, until I let my mind change, influenced by having my every perspective soundly refuted, same as you, 'cept different.

we all know driving slower = better fuel milage

    each has their limits

i believe most tests say 45mph is the best

you gonna put up that $10k to drive 45mph all over the country?

I ran a 379 with an old mechanical 3406b for years smoked like a chimney all the time was running Midwest to West coast 750-850 miles a day 70-72 on the freeway 65 on the two lane averaged 7.8 mpg it's not all about how fast you go. It's got allot to do with how you climb and descend hills, take off from lights and how often you stop.

Sadly I went from that truck to a '09 built glider with a 3406e and gained almost zero.
