if you are getting that after those deductions you will be alright. The trouble with trucking is that there will always be someone who will work cheaper.Shippers usually go for the one that hauls the cheapest. Not much loyalty anywhere in trucking-just my opinion,I might be wrong.

Nobody is paying $1.65/mile the way rates are now. You may get a load for that or better but it won't average that much. If you can avg. $1.65/mile take it ... and tell me where it is so I can join you.

I wouldn't say no one is pay rates like that but they are few and far between!

The question to ask is what is their pay per mile before they add on the surcharge. That way you can keep track of what your making per mile on you surcharge. Your surcharge should go up or down depending on the prices of fuel.

There's a good excel spreadsheet on the OOIDA website that will help you figure your cost per miles. To use it you need to know how to project your expenses and total miles driven. Easy to do with all of the help you'll get here. Just use your head when you choose who to listen to. Personally, I'd be happy with 1.65 per mile right now, especially if it is a company with discounts for insurance, fuel, tires maintenance, etc. available. Oh yeah, and they pay you! Here's the link to the spreadsheet: http://www.ooida.com/trucking_tools/CPM/cost_per_mile.htm I hope posting the link isn't breaking any rules... :biggrin_25520:
