Yes, but you can not get extra weight on it. Mines a full time down and I can not get extra weight in Ab. with it.
Check their website for all the rules. Depends on your wheel base also. You might need to get an annual wheel base length permit for the trk..

No you can not. It MUST be lifted off the ground.

If you require a tri group, it must be a tri-drive or tandem drive with a single axle jeep in BC, AB, SK, & MB.

I am using your definition here..."lift axle".

Do not read this incorrectly, passingthru69's "third axle" is NOT a lift, therefore it is always down and that is why he can get an AB permit...but it is only allowed tandem weight, NO MORE! These non lift able tri groups spin out easily, they are not advisable during Canadian winters.

SK does not allow this configuration, however many lie, or just blast through SK...fair warning, they are in the process of expanding enforcement training on what to look for in SK. They are getting frustrated at the lack of regard and compliance and are implementing measures to curb this. They have been taking trainees to carriers yards to demonstrate heavy haul equipment and explain allowable and non allowable config's!

I don't believe BC will allow one of these constantly deployed axles under any circumstances.

MB will NOT allow you to permit this, I have witnessed MB scales require guys to remove the tires from their; lift axle, spread axle, and the third non liftable-non drive axle!

That's interesting, I have a friend who has a tridem with no lift axles and he says you can't run any where in Canada with a lift axle that is in the up position. He's from Canada as well. Maybe it's just Ontario where he is from.

    I'm from SK, Canada.
    This is wrong.
It's been a few years, but I had a lift axle on my step deck and I operated it in almost every jurisdiction without issue, ever.
I have seen countless tankers and grain trailer running with automatic lift axles lifted when running empty...this month.
Lift axles of any kind are NOT allowed to be operated on tractors in western Canada. They MUST be lifted, not deployed.
ATS moved a bunch of loads a couple of years ago and rented some single axle jeeps to do them...while in Canada, they had their lifts lifted, with the single jeep to meet reg's.

This is not true for Ontario (I don't know about other provinces as I don't travel outside of Ontario, heck I don't go much further then the GTA)... Your suppose to have your lift axles up when you are empty and then they are not required... Now since SPIF (Safe, Productive and Infrastructure-Friendly) as come out (I don't know if this is Ontario only or what) but basically what SPIF means is that the trailer (or truck) is equipped with steerable axles... These lift axles are not allowed to be controlled from the cab which means when they are down they must be down all the time, there are some exemptions like off-road trucks that can still control axle(s) from cabs.. You CAN run with these steer axles down but it's not needed and in the winter not really safe.. Rigid (non steer) axles as far as I know are not allowed to be down unless you have the required weight for them to be used.. The SPIF axles are self levelling and spread the load equally between all axles on trailer... In Ontario we are allowed to run 3rd axles trucks as I see them all over the place (mostly pusher axles, not many tag axles)

We make our Jump Jeeps with Air ride suspensions. Welding the axles to the frame ("Solid axle" no suspension) derates them quite a lot, not even close to 20,000 lbs rating on a 22,500 lb axle.

In CA they have to be inspected, if it can be controlled from inside the cab then they will not pass it.

Plus a number of other restrictions as well. I am still not setup with a CA inspection number.
