Gismo it is very simple to split break! Really it is! U just have to make sure you do your math correctly and if you follow my 11 & 14 hour rule and then the split break rules along with my step by step of A,B & C steps you should not have a problem. The thing is you have to pay attention to my details of what the words are saying. When I captalize that means pay attention (like 8 hour SLEEPER; means it must be in the sleeper; get it?? l.o.l.) to what I am saying.
If you keep in mind when you are split breaking and you have lets say a 2 hour break and then your 8 hour break (must be in the SLEEPER) or more then the 14 will restart from the end of the previous break. If you count forward 14 hour hours after the previous break and make a mark then go to the end of the previous break and look forward, do you have 8 hours in the sleeper or more?? Yes; then count the # of hours in the SLEEPER and that's how many hours you can count on your 14 hour (from the mark you made on the previous step). Thats the end of your 14 hour. Now driving time; add up driving time (line 3 only) in BETWEEN the 8 & 2 hour break (ignoring any other little breaks) and subtract that from 11 and that's how many hours you have available to drive as long as you can get those driving hours done before that last 14 hour mark.
Remember once you take your 8 or 2 then math will need to be done just the same as above. Eventually you will realize if you just took a 2 hour break (being the 8 hour break was prior) you count over 14 hours from the end of the 8 and that's when your next 14 hour is up. Because the 2 HOUR BREAK DOES NOT EXTEND THE 14 HOUR PERIOD!
When split breaking the 8 & 2 will only clear out the working time prior to the first break. Why because that working time was followed by a 10 hour break (being split that's fine).
I was rambling to hopefully make some sense just in small talk, DID IT WORK?![]()
