You aren't the first to ask that question, there are many answers to that. A lot of them depend on the person in the mirror.
It was for me...not so much for others. Everything is dependent on what you are looking for and what you are willing to accept.
How are things especially for the first couple of days upon arrival at the academy? also whats origntation at the columbus terminal? one other thing is how is the columbus terminal about giving miles and what kind of loads do they have?
Most complaints I see are about home time, that really doesn't matter to me that much. I realize it's part of the business. I think most people have unrealistic expectations about the industry so people get disappointed. Is this a correct observation?
I get home every other Friday and leave out Sunday nights for a Monday delivery. I am not on a dedicated run or anything like that. I think that is a pretty good deal.
Ok so you get to spend 12 days out for a whole $10 p/hr and are happy about it...do we wonder why most are not making a decent living in this industry.
Please tell me how you came up with the magical number of $10 per hour? I bet you divided it by 70 hours per week didn't you? How much do you think a driver with 1 year should make? Also if you are going to use "Dumass Math" make sure you include the place that they provide for me to live and the fact that they pay the heating and electric bill. So yeah, I will make over 38K my first year in the easiest job that I have ever had. Sounds like good deal to me. Never...ever try to equate OTR truck driving to an hourly wage. It just makes you look stupid.
