LA to TX--Congratulations on your new Family! If you're in the DFW area back here stateside, given your situation...you might give Schneider a try. Their terminal in Dallas is/was recently refurbished. I never saw it....but I hear it's really nice. The bottom line--my CDL was "stale" too.....and Schneider gave me a chance, when others would not. LOTS of opportunities there--and more freight than one can describe. NOTE: You will not be out with a trainer long with them--maybe a week or so. --Lual
Scheider was one of the recruiters we had when I went through CDL school. I always had the impression that Scheider was a bit picky when hiring drivers out of CDL school. Didn't really give them much thought as a result. Well, thank you for the congratulations and for the tip. Putting in an application right now.
You might try FFE in Lancaster. They've raised their pay and are putting inverters in their trucks. I think their fleet is going to KW now. It's a fair place to start.
If your accident was ticket violation and responsibility free, how is any one finding out? Something isn't making since here. In most cases you can have one accident in 36 months and still get hired. So I'm confused. As far as the felony goes its just a time thing. Ive meet two convicted killers who drive truck so just wait it out. But the accident thing don't sound right. The reason I'm confused. I got two dui accidents and still got a job. Can you elabarote. Thanks
It happened the first week of CDL school. When I talked to recruiters and told them the date, they would say that safety has to clear it because of the recency of the accident. If I don't tell them about it, there is the potential that safety still finds out when I am going through orientation because of insurance records. Not taking a chance of being let go at orientation because I didn't disclose the accident.
Update: Of all the applications I have submitted thus far, the company that seems most likely to work with me and my situation is... Sweet Express based out of Grand Rapids, MI. On a waiting list for a trainer that drives an automatic. Recruiter said that they are tight on automatics right now. The timing works out fine because I am not returning to the US for about another month. Anyone heard anything about this company? I did a search on here and really didn't find anything worth even considering useful information. @Chinatown In your vast storage of trucking company knowledge, are you familiar at all with this company?
Not much has been posted about Sweet Express. In my notes: pet/rider, new cdl school grads, benefits start on day one.
Ok, that's the same as what I saw in the email from the recruiter. Well, at least it's consistent. The recruiter does seem pretty straight forward like he isn't trying to sell me hopes and dreams that can't realistically be found my first year. That's a win right there. Anyway, thank you for the response.
