My situation is not the same as all other small owner operators, obviously.
I'd rather just pull freight at a reasonably profitable rate.
Because I personally have experienced such a precipitous drop (almost overnight) in available freight and rates that make sense to run, I adapted and went into the rope-a-dope position.
Fortunately, because I have been saving some money during good times, not living beyond our personal and business means, paying forward on certain expenditures, I can survive for a season without having to work.
The efforts I have put in regarding PPP and other available financial assistance, are helpful and will keep me in the game of musical chairs for a longer period of time, I hope.
The reality is (for me) it makes no sense to add unprofitable wear and tear miles to my equipment.
I'll wait out the storm for a bit and reassess and adjust accordingly.
Good wishes and Godspeed to you all.

Not worth taking an emotional roller coaster ride over. I’m not surprised at all. Nothing lost. I went from, Glad to be working to maybe get a breather and get caught up a bit to Should have known better, back to Glad to be working, Lol. I would have used the funds to finance $15000, That I recently put on low interest credit cards, for an overhaul. Spent another $7000, running the house, while in the Shop. So now it’s back to reality. As broke and as close to complete failure as I am right now, I’m still Optimistic. Less worried than any time in the past, that I’ve faced a challenging time. I guess I know I’ll survive, based on history, instead of fear of the unknown. This is just a temporary bad time. Soon to be a memory. Got to stay cool and calm, don’t panic, the Wolf’s not at the door yet.Tactics learned from this will help strengthen future Bussiness decisions.Survival is a choice. Not a circumstance.

Chase sent me an email saying that funds for PPP have run out and there are 100k people in line in front of me, however SBA checked my credit report today. I wonder if my original EIDL application started to get some traction.
However, since $10k deal is not available anymore and they will only give me a $1000, I won't be too happy about having that credit inquiry on my reportNostalgic, Rideandrepair and Tug Toy Thank this. -

Beside the point, but according to my math, ( questionable at best) Michigan unemployment accounts for 20% of all claimants nationwide. Manufacturing jobs ain’t what they used to be, lousy pay, lousy conditions and lousy security. Glad I’m not a Factory Rat.

As I mentioned previously, I have had used the same account with the IRS for over the last 10 years, so there's no reason the shouldn't have my bank info.
I finally got the IRS "Get my Payment" site to accept my info. It processed my 2019 info. I did not use Turbo Tax for 2019, I used an independent accountant and paid with direct deposit.
So will see what happens now. I can imagine what something like this would be like for someone running out of food or unable to pay rent. I don't mind waiting, but I would like to get the money especially since I already paid for 2019.Attached Files:

This is not political. My concern about the election is that neither side will accept the results if the other wins, especially if it's close. This is about social stability. It's just another wildcard to throw in to the mess we are already in.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
