I helped several of my business clients complete the EIDL application, so that would make sense that the people you know have no clue what is going on. If I called up all the clients I helped fill out the application and asked them if they received any EIDL money, many would probably ask me what the hell I was talking about!!

Maybe that's good. My impression was that quite many were taking it because they saw everybody else do it too Surely, I took it too. PPP I decided not to go for. Somehow, I felt it did not apply to me. I don't have people on payroll and don't have business rents and mortgages but truly the real reason was the more hoops and loops and lack of determination but the EIDL was just as easy as scrapping a lottery ticket. -
As far as them being able to cross reference and verify a tax return, that wouldn't be difficult for them to do at all. They are the SBA after all, a Federal Government Bureaucracy
In addition, no small business is going to receive any kind of meaningful loan offer through EIDL, without having to substantiate creditworthiness and verifiable recent business revenue. -

A little off subject, but not straying too far from the reservation though
Ever notice how SOME (not all) of the one's that lament the rest of the poor serfs out here sucking off the government teet, are either on, or will be sooner than later, some of the first one's lined up to draw their Social Security & Medicare benefits.
Ever looked up your annual social security wage contribution online? If not, it's easy to sign up and look at it. Talk about sucking the government teet LOL.
How about those retirement plans & pensions that folks get every month, most of those plans are broke and are being subsidized by current contributors or the state and federal government. Talk about sucking off the teet
Not to mention the 401K, Roth, Bonds, Treasuries and other retirement programs that are subsidized by tax schemes connected to short & long term debt in some fashion or another.
We went over the cliff a long time ago when it comes to living and depending (in one way or the other) off the government teet. A person would have to live on island somewhere, completely removed from society, producing and providing for everything they need to survive, in order for them to say they're not sucking off the government teet.Tug Toy, paulf, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this. -
One leson learned I've always been honest on my taxes.. Never again will I be, I will lie and cheat my ### off like everyone else. This govt has done nothing to help me, but billionaires get free hand outs every time the economy dips..
I looked through the list of companies who were approved for PPP.. There was a dentist in Cali who got $5 million. A car wash in Kentucky $5 million. Multiple hedge funds $5 million.. Some gas station in Cali $5 million.. Now keep in mind the PPP was for payroll protection to keep employees on the books for 2.5 months not "loans to fund companies"..
Meanwhile I couldn't get a meager $3,750 x 2.5.. Seriously screw the US govt I will do everything possible to cheat my taxes from now on.. I still haven't even gotten my $1,2k stimulus check.. I got 883.00.. I guess better than nothing but not better by much...Last edited: May 4, 2020
