Apparently that radio was not easily upgradeable so it wasn't real popular but it looks like it was made in the early 80's.

Great find! You get the payment plan?:D
The 427 was the highly sought after unit. Got this one eons ago and recently 56DD8DE2-03CB-4BE2-91D9-F7E2146BE781.jpeg A5CFED9C-2DAD-4697-BA1F-9F262C44D289.jpeg came across new in box mic for $4 at flea market. The receipt was in box for mic $28 in 1985 when it sold new in Vancouver BC[/QUOTE]

I have a Texas Star 271 channel (Galaxy clone) with a radio shack preamplified mic. Haven’t used it in years but it was a great sounding radio, just had to put a 9v in the mic ever so often.

There's a battery in there? I'll have to investigate. I had bought the radio for $14 to replace a friends 427( he was funny about that radio, his one and only) that got stolen however as luck would have it police turned up his radio before this one arrived in the mail

No, not in your mic. This was a specific radio shack mic I own that had a 9v for the amplifier section. I was just concurring that Radio Shack made quality stuff back in the day.

    Jazz1 Thanks this.
