I used to have a Radio Shack TRC-439.
It was a decent little radio.

I think it might have been $15 brand new at the time

There's a bunch on eBay for "under" $10...just got to watch the shipping charges.
Only Rat Shack CB I ever owned was back in the mid 70's, and it was a 5 or 6 channel push-button radio that you had to buy the crystals for...It came with channel 19, and 9, you had to pick the other channels you wanted to receive...think new I payed almost $100 for that radio in 1974 dollars...in today's dollars, that would be well over $200!
And to top it off...someone actually stole the thing out of my car!rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Yeah. They got my Kraco 8-track player, too.

I have been using the same Midland radio for the last 37 years of trucking . I bought it new in 1978 . I put a new mic on it and fixed the burnt out meter light last year . That is all I have done to it since I bought it . I have tried others but I just keep going back to my old one . I bought a Galaxy 95T I think it was it stayed over night and I took it out and gave it to kid that just got his first truck . Found out that I am not a Galaxy guy . I didn't think I was but thought I would try one before I swore off of and at them . I also have a President 2510 that I have had since about 1983 . I had a 29 LTD LX I think it was and it was junk out of the box I threw it away .
Slowmover1 and Timin770 Thank this. -
And you still have that MOTOROLA Dynatac cellphone you had to use a three year note to buy in 1983.
Since you’d already tapped out buying an OSBOURNE personal computer the year before.
Funny how no one complains about those, but $500 in gear for a CB is too much. -
Cost of my first new Realistic CB back in 1980 was around $200. Its had lots of bells and whistles but electronics were not cheap at all. The Realistic sideband CB's were around $250rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

I don't care what anyone spends on their radio !
Heck I have over 3 grand in ham radio amp and antenna in my truck so I sure don't have a problem with a measly 500.00 for a CB .
I keep my 40 year old radio because I like it .
When it comes to CB radio in today's trucking with most newbies thinking Google is and gps is all they need i don't use or enjoy the CB like I did back in the olden days !
By the way I also have a new fangled smart phone and 3 or 4 computers and a tv that has a remote control !!!!
Around my neck of the woods I am a high tech redneck LOLTheRATT, Slowmover1 and Triple Digit Bullhauler Thank this. -

I will stick with my Superstar 158edx, and original General Lee 11 meter radio with two Monkey made antennas, and my little Palomar 400 amplifier.TheRATT Thanks this. -
And now, for $13 and change out of my pocket... (thanks to a long-forgotten PayPal balance that covered the rest)
