You say that with NO basis. The fact is they, and their safety record, prove this isn't rocket science, far from it, let's not kid anyone. You've been surrounded by Watkins drivers as long as you've been on the road and you're still here to cry that they didn't need the extra training you may have(or not), like I said, some NEED more, some don't, the over whelming majority of their drivers DON'T, safety record proves it.

I teach people to fly airplanes, some solo in 10-15hrs, some take 40-50hrs,(some I'll never release to solo), no different. Watkins doesn't take those that need the 40-50hrs, simple.

Many people grew up on farms and a decade before being able to get a license could drive circles around many licensed drivers..They don't need to be stuck in a cab with a "trainer" with a % of their experience.

Well, hell... we should make everyone drive slow trucks, run EOBRs, and go through a couple months of being paid peanuts while their 6 month - 1 year experienced trainer sleeps. That'll make the roads so much safer. Look at the stellar reputations of the companies which do that!

Carolina Cargo was where I got my rookie experience.

During orientation, I asked about the training process. The owner of the company gave me a funny look, said, "You got your CDL, don't you?", to which I nodded "Yes", so he said, "Well, drive the truck then!" So I did.

    Now THAT is training!

Safety records huh, most the drivers on this planet have bad safety records or less then satisfactory. The ones with real good safety score are the long term verteran drivers. But the ones we have now makes me wonder if they got their CDL out of a box of cracker jack.

I think it is crazy to just assum that a driver with many years of experience is better than a driver with only a few months experience... just because a driver has experince doesnt mean they are being safe.. and just because a driver has only been driving a few months doesnt mean they are an accident waiting to happen..

There are good new drivers.. just as there are some bad experienced drivers out here..

We use the stupidest markers to decide if a driver is a good driver or not.. from the company they are driving with to many othe false assumptions...

The proof is what I see on our roads, what I hear on the radio, what I see on tv what I see on you tube.Alot of drivers these days are too immature to be driving trk.Im not at all saying all newby drivers and ones with a couple yrs exp are bad drivers because some puts drivers to shame how professional they can handle the rig.But these super trucker wannabes shouldn't even be out there and companies shouldn't be hiring them either. But anymore they don't care who drives and how the trainee is doing just hurry up and get hjm qualified is all they care about.

According to this analysis, the car driver's behavior was more than three times as likely to contribute to the fatal crash than was the truck driver's behavior....

the car driver alone was at fault in 70 percent of all fatal car-truck crashes....

    http://www.truckaccidents.org/statistics/
About 75 percent of commercial truck accidents are caused by drivers of other smaller passenger vehicles, rather than the truck driver.

    http://www.truckline.com/ATA Docs/N...12 13 -- FINAL 2013 Car-Truck Fault Paper.pdf
The crash fault picture has remained the same
in the years since these comprehensive
    studies. FMCSA’s
    Large Truck and Bus
    Crash Facts
for three recent years show the
following percentages of vehicles with cited
driver factors in 6,131 car-truck fatal crashes:
    •
    2007: 85% of cars, 26% of trucks
    •
    2008: 85% of cars, 26% of trucks
    •
    2009: 81% of cars, 22% of trucks.

So let me get this straight pattyj (and no I'm not attacking you) but you drove for 3 companies with less than desirable safety records yet you down a company that puts trust in their drivers after 10 days?

Chinatown, zmpart and bulldog522002 Thank this.
