Oh, I agree having a view back there would be great. I was thinking more along the lines of snap-in window covers.
I'm not really seriously considering it, though. As has been stated here a couple times, it'd be easier to live with a modest sleeper than have to constantly explain things to every DOT officer I come across.

NOPE.........your "10-Hour" break won't count in a "day-cab". You would need to show a motel receipt.
Also, Federal Law ALLOWS you to drive an additional 2 hours (to get to your terminal or to a "safe-place") IF you

    1. Encounter in climate weather and
    2. could have completed the run during your "11 Hours"

    I'm sorry RK, I can't resist:

What is "in climate" weather? Is that when it's hot in the desert or cold on the mountain pass?

And would a "receipt" from Mustang Ranch or Donna's Place count?:biggrin_25514:

Okay, there is an exception that will allow him to log upto, 1 15 hr day so long as he takes 34 hrs off following it. If the weather is that bad that he cannot make it back to his terminal in 14 total hrs, however he cannot go beyond 13 of driving, allowing for the 2hr weather clause. I have used this extra hour a couple of times in the last few years because of weather conditions when running local and caught in heavy traffic and stopping to use the sleeper is not possible. Also, unless DOT are being totally unreasonable, most won't argue the 2 hr weather exception clause so long as he notates it on his log when he turns it in. I've done this, had USDOT audit the company and catch the log sheet, they've never questioned it.

the 2 hour exemption is not "for weather". its for anything that you had no way of knowing about ahead of time. i'm sick of seeing people who dont understand it tryign to explain it to people..

First of all, if its a predicted winter storm, you cant use it.

But If there is an accident and youre stuck in traffic for hours over it...then ok.
if there's a freak storm, totally unpredicted, you can use it.

I was more thinking of where the bed is going to go when not in use. The ONLY PLACE is for it to fold into the back wall, covering the window.
