Yes that is why I stayed at the company for so long as they never ever put pressure on us to do a hot load it was up to us to manage our hours and if I wanted a 12 hour break I'd have one as long as I got my delivery there on time they did not care, In a 12 month period I only missed a time slot twice, once because they never actually gave me a delivery time and the second was a hot load I chose to do just after the Memorial day weekend which I should of refused to take and only missed the time slot by one hour and the warehouse made me wait 2 whole days to unload as punishment.
10 hours not the issue

Running legal is not always the same as running safely.
This is a job, and I am an employee - not a slave or a machine.
My employer does not have a 'right' in the way you describe - no matter how much money they have invested.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
I agree, safe is the first requirement, legal is the second check
Trucker61016 and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
I think could make enough to retire early if i invested in vaseline stock these days....seems like alot of taking it in the bum going on, not just in trucking either..Bean Jr. Thanks this.

And so began the first spam calls....except it was the warranty on his horse and buggy.....JolliRoger Thanks this.

Truer words were never written.. I think when they sign up for driving school the 1st thing they hand out to the students are towels to cry on ,a pacifier, and a leash... They should start a forum here called ...... Vaseline and tears on my pillowBrettj3876, 70s Trucking, Trucker61016 and 1 other person Thank this.

I don’t know why this is hard for guys to get, well yeah I do because I used to do it as a new guy.
Energy drinks all day to stay awake aint the way to live.
On paper logs if I needed to nap I could pull over and nap no one knew or cared as long as I delivered on time.
There’s something nice about getting some food and taking an hour long cat nap waking up grab a cup of coffee and slow rolling down the highway.
no clock to chase and rats to race, just an appointment and a destination.Rideandrepair, MTN Boomer, Trucker61016 and 2 others Thank this. -
10 years ago I started out on paper, but with most of the same basic rules.
Not that much changed for me when going to e-logs, except that it saved me some time and effort in the logging process.
It is, and always has been for me, just an appointment and a destination.
If I can't do the times based on the rules and how much time I need/want to do it safely, I turn it down.
Simple.Trucker61016, Powder Joints, jdchet and 1 other person Thank this. -
I agree with you , physically the elogs probably made me a safer driver, and certainly has helped with the logbook math issues, and there has of course also been a few things I don;t care for as well. I do like the new rules stopping the 14 hour clock, and being able to let fueling count toward the 30 (most do this anyway). As I recall trucks speeding thru the truckstops has alway benn a problem, can't blame elogs for driver stupidity.Trucker61016 and Moosetek13 Thank this.

If people would stand up for themselves we would have Hours of Service to reflect a more freedom work environment.. Instead of having to circumvent the "law" change it to where you can just log how you'd drive and we choose how we drive.Trucker61016 and MTN Boomer Thank this.
