Just a little FYI, just because the peaks are at 115% or around there, does not mean that is where the distortion is coming from.

I dont care about the percentage crap, I set the initial deadkey about 1.5 watts, hook up the scope and adjust for max clean, sine wave on flattopping, If the audiowave squares out thats all distortion and will sound terrible.

Most of the consumer meters do not show an actual peak or accurate mod anyway. I trust my 2 Bird 43 meters one set up for RMS the other for nominal power, and my Motorola Service monitor.

It's maddening to read about cold solder joints showing up in expensive radios. How skillful does the factory worker have to be to get the solder right? Is it that technically difficult? Come on.

Well those are cheap radios that are sold for expensive prices and people are buying them.

It’s a good sounding radio and it receives well. What more could you want?

Well I have a cobra 29 that does that, I also have a johnson 323 which is a really great radio that puts out 20 watts and has great receive - those two cost maybe $30 between the both of them.

what puzzles me is why do people fall for the "10 meter" stick, it isn't a ham radio and a lot of ham radios, even older ones didn't use CB technology.

I like it because it’s compact, has excellent sound on SSB and the controls are thoughtfully laid out.

People buy 10 meter radios because they have a bit more power. I have an FCC legal 12 watt SSB radio and have never succeeded in getting my number called back, unlike the Anytone, where I get a response dang near every time.

    Timin770 Thanks this.
