They always seem to find drivers from somewhere. That's the scary part.

In 2019 there were approximately 90 drivers at the Indy terminal. Today there are about 50. The company will tell you it's because of lost contracts. I was there. They lost the contracts due to not having enough drivers to service them.

10 Roads has a couple of trucks that run mail from Eureka to San Francisco. They have an almost constant ad in CL and FB looking for drivers. The pay doesn't seem bad until you figure in the layover in SF, getting back to Eureka too late to turn on time, and missing the rest of that day. One of our friends tried it and said it just didn't pay.

That's one of the things about mail hauling. You have to get the right route. Before I retired I had moved far enough up the seniority list to pick what I wanted. Absolutely would not take anything with a layover.

I think that's part of the problem with Eureka to SanFrancisco. You can't quite turn it, even if you run California HOS. It sets up some kind of weird schedule where you're off every other day...except when you're not.

I'm in SLC and they have a ad on indeed that looked great. Then I checked here and said heck no to that bs. A lot of people don't due their due diligence.

Exactly. If they were really a great place to work they wouldn't be constantly advertising for drivers because nobody would be quitting.
The best places to work don't usually advertise.
