I also love my 13 speed in the cities where I can toggle between the split and keep the RPMs more constant.

A 9 speed IS a 13 without the split. That is a fact.

If you have the choice between a 9 and a 10 I would go with the 10 though, unless you plan to change it to a 13. Another gear is another gear.
I can add quite a few other tranny's to the list under "have driven" as well.
But your point was incorrect. You tried, but it was out of context.

I drive an 8 lo-lo redi-mix truck right now and typically haul 29 tons a trip. What a PITA it is to shift going up even the smallest of grades. Man I would love to split the top range. Doesn't help the synchro is effed either.

My favorite is a 18 speed. Can split top and bottom.

18 is worthless with 80k. Probably 90% of all trucks with 18's have never split low range. Not going to need to shift 10 times before the trailer makes it through the traffic light pulling 80k on highway.

Six speed main box with a 4 speed axillary.

If you want more gears, they are all there.

No thanks. I have done a 5 and 2 many times. That is plenty for me though. That was Mack's primary gear box thru the 70's.
