Not that im aware of..I know it has an swr/voltage protect in it but has to be turned on and set by user..
If you have a fully functional 955 i wouldnt put nothin less than 500 watt amp behind it...Anything less would be almost a waste of time,$.... I thought about an amp many times and have given up on the idea..More hassle/work than its worth to me... Half the time on ssb ya got much bigger powered radios walkin all over each other and on am ya got noise boxes goin, the whistlers and aaaauuuuddddiiiooooo guys the music player ect ect... I was away from truckin for a lil bit,got sick with cancer related stuff but all good now....Anyways this trip from novascotia to maryland,s carolina and now back up to detroit my radio was mostly off...Cant stand the bs sometimes and it got under my skin and it was on my 1st real run in the trk..Ruined it for me..
Yup, Up-Armored Receiver: " Up-Armored Receiver- Stryker's exclusive receiver protection works even under the harshest conditions, such as those experienced at a busy truck stop with many operators running high power radios. In addition their receiver filtering is tighter than most radios on the market. This means adjacent channel rejection is improved...."
Glad to hear you're back in the saddle, Craig! It's a shame the loons screwed up your radio experience. You're right about running an over-powered radio: Ten miles of 4-Watt insanity is more than enough. I can't imagine what it would be like to hear 50 miles worth of that krap. I use the squelch to shave off the chaff. I am guilty myself of running a little amp of around 100 watts. But I do it just to overcome the highway static a little bit.
Well god darn....I knew it was amoured up but didnt think it would do that..Well now ya learn somethin new every day..I just got up so im skooled already..
Lol..Appreciate the kind word but im a babe in the woods when it comes to radio/ant stuff but i try..
No but I dont encourage people to buy radios that destroy the bands either, There adults and will do as they wish, but at least do it informed. I worked for my License, do not like poaching.
