100 car pileup in Texas

I ran across this article about the wreck and it is reporting on TTR and what truckers are commenting about on here, esp the ones who have said they don't plan on slowing down and continue driving in bad conditions.

They certainly seem to be a recurring theme.

Winter crashes..... same thing.
They certainly compete with swift to be at nearly every scene.

 

I wouldn't believe a "trained" expert in fog condition speed guessing.

With fog obscuring most of the back ground items they use to guess speed even the "expert" is going to get it wrong.




I just don't get why people are so ignorant and keep blasting along at and above the speed limit when its foggy.
Same thing happens on I-80. And then you get multi vehicle wrecks here too.

 

I had a Fed Ex cut me off last week forcing me into another lane, no wonder they DON'T run on Ch. 19. Don't know what it is with some truckers nowadays they think they turn that turn signal on and it's a green light to change lanes regardless of who's passing them. Why do you think you're getting passed? Sit there and wait play it safe you're only going 63 mph on 65/70/75 mph road. Use some common sense!
Maintaining a safe distance doesn't matter either.
Also 1 more thing, when it's foggy and you night time "Driving Light" users who must run those lights in normal weather how do you cope in actual fog/bad weather?

 

Looks like SOMEONE is starting to see things the way we see them. Too bad the powers that be can't!

 

A major accident that could have been avoided or less devastation. I am a firm believer of the importance of truck drivers being able to communicate with each other. I can almost guarantee that there were a few drivers getting reports (11meter 27.185 mhz/2meter 146.520 or 20m 14.302.5). These 1. made decision not to get on the interstate or 2. got off the interstate well before the heavy fog report area and, 3. slowed their trucks down, warned other drivers behind them well before this incident.
Truck drivers involved in this accident are the same ones that "drive right up into a 3-7mile highway back-up (passing detours/safe areas), come to a complete stop; finally decide to get off their iPhone/Android device, sign off the internet and lastly turn down the XM/Sirius; look around their truck realizing a CB radio was placed in the overhead compartment by someone.
This is when 50 - 100 of these same drivers turn that CB radio on and at the same time asked "WHAT HAPPENEDDD!!". There other excuse, "This is why I don't turn on the CB (responding to the regular CB user) explaining that he has been giving reports for 10-15min" or "I hate what I hear on CB radio"; however the same CB radio haters have HBO, XM/Sirius, Showtime, Cinemax or some form of Satellite reception. Go figure! Truck Drivers have to get back to being road warriors; working together to help other's. Stop being weak minded on what the Trucker comedian says on CB. Same thing on the XM/Sirius!
