I need to point out I purposely left a job at Buster Brown in the 6 figure club 9 years ago because I wasn’t happy. After I learned a new trade hauling cars and eventually bought my own carhauler I look at my Buster money and don’t flinch one bit. It isn’t for everyone, but working for ones self can often far exceed a great company job. I did it for the schedule but the money eventually followed. Going back to the money comment, it is not always strictly about the money. Every one has different priorities in life and they often change as we age. In my 20’s and 30’s I worked as many hours as I could get my hands on. In my 50’s I still want to be compensated at the peak for my industry, but I don’t work as many hours.jcrack08, Dale thompson, Mooseontheloose and 8 others Thank this.

I get that sometimes guys rise to the top of this industry and it's not what they were expecting. So they go on to do something else, I work with many former owner ops who say they don't miss the headaches so each have their ups and downs I suppose. For me I love what I do but being in cryo you are alot more then just a driver.Mooseontheloose, Weeble Kneeble and Banker Thank this.

Exactly why I love being a carhauler. Driving is such a small part of my daily routine. I also like the flexibility that I can only have by being an owner operator. The money helps too! I won’t lie and say I would do it if the money weren’t great. Great maintenance is basically the ability to micro manage which I also love to do, but just not with people. I have an awesome independent shop that specializes in carhaulers and they do 100% of the work that I don’t do if I can get the truck to them for the repairs. I do all the work that I have the time and desire to do. I don’t do any work I don’t want to do or am not skilled to do because I make enough to hire it done.dztruck, Mooseontheloose, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.
