Oh crap..Just had an idea..
Use your ladder as a platform for your 102..
Easy up and down when required.. -

Flat metal plates? The trailer is one giant flat metal plate. I may attach an extendable pole to the front and use Craig's idea of a hinge to make it easy to take down. Of course, then I'll need to park somewhere where I can drive a short ground rod in the dirt. Lightning is bad voodoo. -
I was just trying to think of an economical situation where you could Mount the antenna higher on the vehicle so that you could use it while you are bobtailing. A flat metal plate in between the two sections of fairing on the rear of the vehicle would be a nice structurally sound place to put an antenna and it would be easy to ground it to the sheet metal on the back of the cab

I already have two antennas for each of my radios that work pretty good for mobile. The 102 is purely an experiment for stationary DX'ing.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Best solution for stationary operation would be a base antenna on a push up pole strapped to the back of the truck. It would have to be disassembled between moves.
