You'll need an 81 inch antenna for that truck. Since nobody makes one you might need to fabricate it yourself.
-
Look at each antenna and see where the load coil is...All the BIG SUPER DUPER air cooled and all the wilson 2000 style are called mid loads..Mag mount style are nase loaded and if you look at the firestick and skip shooter types theare top loaded...
You wanna be keeping the load up as high as possible..So on a low mount like cascadias they need a tall top load antenna..A older flat top pete/freightliner or even mid roof could get away with a mid load like the air cooled super duper cool ant and wilson 2000/5000 and the k40 ect.....
Higher the ant and coil the better the range.....Saw a pic of my techs antenna,8 ft tall on a puck mount in his 4 wheeler.. -
Good info, I'll look in to a 5 foot antenna on each side. I think 5 foot is max due to trees on the street. I think a skip shooter is a better option due to the adjustability of the swr. On a firestick once you cut it your done. But I have seen the FS series and Firefly being adjustable, I'll compare the 3.
-
The 5 foot firestick has the adjustable tip...I think they are called the firestick 2
-
Actually if its a 680 a 6ft skipshooter will get you about trk roof height..
-
I bought the kw7 fireatick and that one is not adjustable, Should of bought the adjustable version.
-
Only up to yhe 5 ft has adjustable tip..6 and 7 dont in the firestick2...All the skipshooters do..
-
Can't you just snip a little bit of wire for any needed adjustments?
-
On the fs 6 n 7 footers..Skipshooters if it tunes lower than what you can do with yhe nail, gotta pull chrome tip off, shorten and reinstall tip n retune..
