No, because you really are getting screwed in an illegal hiring.

But hey, it's your ###, not ours when you get hurt on the job and have no work comp

First of all, it hasn't been determined whether or not this is illegal.

In fact, I did not ask whether or not it's illegal.

If it is illegal, I really don't care, it wouldn't be my ##### in trouble as long as I pay my taxes.

$65k - $70k a year is worth having to pay 7.5% more in taxes.

So please, all I need to know now is if I would still be covered by his vehicle liability insurance if I get involved in an accident.

Seems to me I would be covered for all injuries.

You asked and you were educated. Don't go getting pissy for someone educating you.

If you want the background, www.irs.gov

    Search for 1099 employee there.

    About injuries,

If you are in a accident your medical would be covered depending on the policy, but you will not be eligible for workman's compensation.

Some private carriers will decline it once they find out it's work related. Hence the Occ/acc coverage fro O/O.

7.5% is just the federal portion. You still have to pay the state as well.

Like I said, if he will up my payrate to 42 cpm, then the 7.5% extra would be covered.

I just want to make sure that his vehicle insurance policy would cover all of my medical expenses if I were to be involved in an accident.

Yea his insurance will cover u in a accident while driving his truck. But you will have No benefits. 10% of ur check put away. Be careful driver dont get hurt while on duty not driving. Dont damage a tire or take out a mirror he will charge u for it. It will be asked of you to cheat your logz often with these guys. It will be asked of u to drive beyond ur HOS b careful dont roll the truck be honest with him. It actually feels nice to feel that fat check in your hands. If u break down u better carry food n water for 3 dayz these guys are cheap ###e$ it will take for ever for road service. It feels bad to pay over 8k in taxes a yr It will be ur entire savings. U will not build any unemloyment or retirement so if it dot work out u will be on your own. Good luck driver go for it but I wont ever do it again.

If I'm an I/C, then I guess he couldn't tell me when I'd have to get to a certain place, since legally I'd have to be able to set my own schedule. He wouldn't dare charge me for a broken something, and I've already made it clear I won't do anything that I couldn't do on my logbook. As far as being cheap, well I've watched him and his payroll guy put a cash advance on one of his drivers' fuel cards.
He also has GPS devices (not tracking) and Pre-Pass in his trucks.

90% of everything I make goes right into savings account.

If he gets into trouble about mis-classifying drivers, would I suffer any consequences, as long as I pay my taxes?
