You know that obsequious, servile energy that some people-pleasers give off when they try to "stay out of trouble" or "get along" and they end up causing a mess for themselves and everyone else, like a 4 wheeler stopping in the middle of the highway to be "nice" and let someone else in their lane but end up causing a pile up? Most of the time their trouble is within, and even if they keep changing their environment they'll fall again in the same rut because it's their own shadow that's wrecking things up. I think that's what triplesix meant

CB speak back in the day. Means that’s all I have to say for now.

The difference between being nice and being kind is that a nice person want something from you and a kind person doesn’t. A stripper acts all nice and extremely interested in you until you run out of money. A waitress is attentive to you until you tip her.

Nice people get burned in abusive relationships because they hope that if they act super duper nice and pleasant, the rude person will become pleasant. Never works. Why? Because when you reward bad behavior with pleasant behavior, the bad behavior becomes worse. If you give the dog a treat for crapping on your carpet and chewing up your shoes, do you think the dog’s behavior will get better or worse? Eventually, the dog is going to crap on your face.

Be kind all you want. DONT BE NICE. Soon as they try you step on them. Always easier to stop them before they gain momentum.

    Luck in battle.

I was planning on being at the shop tomorrow to "figure out what can be done with the truck" before a new load or anything, but now he wants me to pick up a load from Chicago tomorrow before going to the contarcted shop to see what can be done.

I suspect he will then say oops it will take a long time, so here's a beatup truck to get setup in, because now you have to deliver this load you picked up or you'd be abandoning the load.

I'm fairly confident this would be a very bad idea.

    This is disgusting.

This dude has like 60-70 trucks. So there are people who are actually working with/for him and making him money, many of whom have been with him for a while. This is doubly disgusting.

He's a narcissistic abuser that has honed his skills on dozens if not hundreds of guys just like you. Even if you can beat him to a pulp in a physical fight you will lose the verbal battle every time.

Look, you are part of the problem, you are acting like the guy is horrible but then you continue to work for him.

    Quit.

Just quit, stop playing games and quit.

I and many others would never tolerate being yelled at or spoken like I am a child or down to by anyone, I have quit jobs, literally walked off of jobs when someone yelled at me for any reason.

The last time I was yelled at I was working for the temp service and told the owner to appoligize of he will have to hire his own drivers, the company backed me. He didn't appoligize when I asked him to so I hung up with him, called my company, told them I am going home and why, then I had the shipper call me a cab. I left his truck at his customer's location some 100 miles away from his shop loaded with the customer's product on the deck, took the cab back to pickup my car, logging the expense with the company and went home. I didn't even call the SoB about what I did, just did it because I respect myself more.

Too many times drivers - like you - use all kinds of excuses to keep dealing with POS owners like him, many times this allows these owners to continue to grow and it becomes a problem for all of us because we end up with drivers who are always pissed off, drivers who have some notion that they are special and don't deserve to be told no, or some other crap. then we have not much left other than steering wheel holders who just don't give a crap about anything.
