We got adequate training about the hours and HOS laws. I think he might have not understood in class being from out of the country. Very nice kid, I felt bad. I tried to explain to him. I tried to help him but we weren't seeing eye-to-eye on very much.

There was no reason to drive over by that much when I was in the back sleeping with plenty of hours to drive the rest of the way.

He could have gone to prison if he caused an accident at hurt/killed someone. My guess is in his country the rules were different and didn't understand its very different here.

    Thank you!

I don't know what time of the day this was, but usually I am running out of hours at times when parking just sucks--about 1-3AM. Ideally I run out of hours after 6AM but my dedicated account and circumstances don't always allow that.

Usually once when I have 60 minutes left I am looking for a spot and I grab my first available spot I find even if I have 58 minutes still left. It sucks, I know, but you never know when the next spot you see might be available.

That’s a thing for drivers that haul OS/OW. Some jurisdictions don’t allow driving at night or after certain hours with permit loads.

If you can make note of it in your system and or call dispatch for advice and possible adjustment..
If your stopped and up front with a dot officer and ot a mister know it all dick then chances are they will warn you or help you with ideas.....
Another idea is to start earlier and finish your day early enough to easily find parking..

As a member you should have received am email recently about the topic of the head muckity muck of FMCSA stating clearly that personal conveyance can be used to get to safe parking.. Aka a rest area or truck stop up to one hour of PC every 24 hours.. Even if it advances you toward the shipper or receiver. Should have used it.

If you are on private property, it should not matter how much over your time you are.
