    Maybe rumor …… maybe not.

I can tell you this. If it comes in my shop deleted, the only way I’m touching it- engine wise- is restoring it to factory.

    Chassis work, not a problem.

But not touching anything on the engine.

Take it to the hack that deleted it when it breaks.

Hey Mr shop owner, if my friend with a deleted truck brings it in for a turbo, how would you have any idea something is up? Hell, if he came in for any job how would you know?

    Yes I sure would.

He would also leave with no bill and the invoice documented as emissions tampered on it.

    Siinman Thanks this.

You would have no idea, I promise. Unless you disassemble the scr and dpf, you would think it was intact. Oh, yes, that's right, deleted trucks can have everything in its place. Even his egr valve moves when the truck is on.

I'd just plug it in and flash a software update.

Siinman and Long FLD Thank this.

Yea right. Then they get pissed because you just undeleted it and now you can’t even drive it. Lol

Dead giveaway is when on the write up it says- DO NOT update ECM.

    Duhhh!!!!!

    Siinman Thanks this.

Who is doing free ecm updates? he's not paying for that, so they are not doing it.

He got his delete from an unnamed guy who showed up and collected money, not a shop. Even if he wanted to drop a dime, like what happened here, there is no one to drop on. Like any government interaction, don't talk to them.

Well if he cranks the truck up in his shop, the truck idles, but the DEF needle stays on empty the whole time, that's when it becomes obvious it's deleted. Oh and he will have to crank it up to move it in and out of the bay.

    It’s called warranty campaigns.

ECMs have software updates all the time and the engine manufacturer pays the bill. Not the customer.

    Siinman and AModelCat Thank this.
