12' 3" will JB Hunt fit???

Though the overhead clearance is clearly marked with a warning sign reading 12' 3", it doesn't look that low to me. Although not 13' 6", it appears that if there were 6" more clearance then the imperiled tractor trailer would fit under this bridge.

 

That's what I was saying. If there's inaccurate posted bridge heights in NYC, and everyone knows it.. people like the JB Hunt driver aren't gonna know what to believe.

 

Probably 13'6 at the entrance but lowers the further in you go. It could just be the perspective of the picture, but it looks like the ground is sloping up.

Oh, please. Stevie Wonder can see that the standard dry-van tractor-trailer combo can't fit through there.

 

Maybe because the door is intact you think it's upright. It looks like it separated from the walls of the trailer which buckled in the middle and are splayed wide. There's a lot of squashing done to that trailer.

 

To help clear up NYC misconception…If the sign (like this one) is yellow w/black letters it’s actual height
The ones marked lower are White background w/black letters…in NYC as long as you’re on a marked Truck Route you’re fine….Best example of top of head are the 3 overpasses on 95n—The Cross Bronx all marked 12’6 on the interstate

All I am saying is that the posted clearance looks to off by about nine inches. Ray Charles can see that.

 

Idk why they do that. In a Vermont where I drive a lot, every road that isn’t a highway is posted at 24,000 pounds. Trucks have to drive on some of these roads to get where they’re going, so they just learn to ignore the signs. Same thing here. Why have the sign if it isn’t to be followed anyway? I guess just so they can get us in trouble if anything happens while we’re driving there.
