12.7 Detroit with current era automatic trans

    is it possible to install a current era transmission onto old ddec iv? Has this been attempted? What’s stopping us?

    Yes you can buy the new auto/trans by the 100lbs scrap Wt. at any truck junk yard?

    You will want to tune that automatic to suit the engine, the specific engine. If it will take a tune. Among other issues. Costly.

    Why in sam hill do you want to dispose of the one already on yours.

    The newer transmissions claim to get better fuel economy and it is very convenient to have an automatic transmission. Especially in heavy traffic

    They had automatics available, while they were still making them, I think 07, last 12.7.Full Autos were available, I may be wrong, auto with clutch, maybe. But 14 liter, basically the same. Shouldn’t be a problem. You’d have to find out about any electronics needed. I imagine.
