Because you didn’t drain head, I didn’t know I could just blow it out, the first time, I was worried about too much fuel, locking up piston. Second time drained head , lost prime. But I couldn’t believe how hard it was to start. Was pulling my hair out. Broke down 200 miles from home, under a load, wife in hospital, what a mess If was. Lol.Over the years, I’ve ran out of fuel more than I like to admit, especially when I first bought this Truck, Had a gauge reading issue, but never lost prime.swaan Thanks this.

My mistake I re read , you did drain head.swaan Thanks this.

Ok, Swan. Wow! I found the check valve. It was in that little spot between transmission frame and fuel tank. Would have missed that completely as somebody on here had said my year fld never had one. Crow is good by the way as I am close to the same spot you were 200 miles from home. Come to think of it, if it helps get my truck running, even OLD CROW sounds mighty appetizing. Lol. So. I got this thing off. It was so tight I was curious if threads were gaulded. Lol. It came off in pieces. And they don't have one in stock, will have to order one if I replace and it is like $100, but looks pretty simple. Just a plunger between 2 fittings. No springs nothing. I put it back together. Blew in both ends takes air on engine side, none on other side.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I think there’s also a fuel shutoff selinoid somewhere, seems I’ve read about it somewhere, trying to find info, no luck. I can’t imagine it being any other fuel related issue, if this doesn’t work. What year is TRUCK? dedec 3 must be 97 or older?
-
Not sure who told you no check valve but more false information. That engine would never start in the morning without one.
Glad you found it. Good luck and I dont want to sound negative in any way but I still dont think its fuel related.
Also there is no fuel seliniod or shut off on a series 60.Rideandrepair, spsauerland and AModelCat Thank this. -
Truck is 96 fld. Motor 12.7 ddec 3. It was an old penske truck 2 owners ago could be interesting the owner I bought the truck from was sure it was losing an injector. That waa 250k miles ago, though lol. I haven't taken the valve cover off, but there is only one solenoid with wires coming off and it is on the sec fuel filter assy. Somebody said earlier that measures fuel temperature though. I have had it out and that is exactly what it looks like. And I am having your same thoughts. I am kinda think in right now, I found this check valve and hose is still apart, I think I might put a small bucket under it and screw valve back on return so air don't go both ways and see if I can get fuel. This may also kill 2 birds with one stone on the solenoid I will report back.swaan and Rideandrepair Thank this.

It must be for temp, Mine doesn’t have a temp guage, just filter restriction guage. I thought that’s what yours was. Either way don’t think if matters. As swann said there must not be a selinoid, I can’t find anything on it. I don’t remember seeing one on shutoff valve when I changed hoses. Don’t know anywhere else it would be, must not exist, my mistake. Trying to stay ahead of it. Lol. Going to Dealer now, there’s a good mechanic I get free info from over there. Keep us posted. Very curious what the problem is. Essentially learning about my engine in the process. Oh yeah when you’re cranking it you have to repeat “ please God” while cranking, Lol worked for Me.

Lol. Swan. Sometimes when you don't know any better it is trial. Error and learning experience. I am really enjoying this forum as I can tell you a bank of money has been thrown at this. And the alternative? Just take er on down there to Detroit ..and pay them $150/hr to put the 3th rpm guage in. Lol. I can eat a lot of crow and admit to a lot of stupidity before that. Lol.any way I went start to check valve .got fuel all the way. No fire. Swan is sounding very wise.swaan and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Swaan knows these Series 60's quite well. I read a lot of his posts. Never met him but I've seen his trucks at shows and he definitely keeps his iron in excellent shape.spsauerland, swaan and Rideandrepair Thank this.
