You would have coolant in your air tanks visibly.

By golly you're right! Why didn't I think of that? I just gotta find some money! That's all I gotta do.

Speaking of going out of business, (is that anything like bankruptcy, similar, maybe) when I take that truck off the road and tear it apart, the insurance still has to be paid. If the insurance payments use up all my money before I can get the truck back on the road, I'll be...

    Of course.

I didn't have time for that realization to bubble to the surface of my conscious mind, but you're right.

I do get moisture in my air tanks, but nowhere near the amount I pour into the engine. Every week or so I have to add two or three gallons. That's why I skimp on antifreeze, both because antifreeze is expensive and because if coolant should (I sure hope not) start getting into my oil I'd much rather it be water than antifreeze.

I'm not being sarcastic. I'm being straight. If your profitable, beg, borrow, anyway you have too. Fix it right and it will pay you back.

I'm well diversed in how things happen. If this is what you plan on doing, better hustle along and keep moving.

I started with a mortgaged 13k truck, scatter the engine 55k miles in. Spent 2 months in ICU with my wife, then spent 1 month with my father who passed. Then had a kid, and have been injured and off. Then 2020 covid, hurt. Life is a sheet storm and get worse at times. Its the tough times that make you who your are. Im a azzzhole. I looked my banker in the face and told him to loan me money on the old truck, or he will own a blown up truck, and btw just forclose on one of the houses too. Left with a check, and not in that situation.

No one has a answer for your situation, only offer advise. If your not prepared to do, what you need to. Then save yourself time and money and quit now.

I've been taking care of this truck for twenty years. It was a Penske truck. It's a 93. Penske had it for seven and I've had it for twenty. Never had the head off. Never had the oil pan off. The truck don't owe me nuthin'.

I'm tryin' hard to stay in business. That's why I'm here looking for somebody who has had any experience with their Detroit similar to the problem I'm experiencing.

Running just water with a bit of anti/frezz , you must put a lot of addtive in your rad. to keep it from getting pin/holes in liners?

I'm preparing to do what I need to do. Getting on this forum and gleaning whatever information I can find dealing with head gaskets, injector cups, and anything else related is part of my preparation. When I'm sure as I can possibly be about exactly what it is that I need to do, I'll consider myself prepared.

Boy, we could really trade some hard luck stories, but I ain't up to it right now. I'd like to beg off, please.

    Thanks.

Thanks. I don't think I have any pinholes in the liners.

So far, anyway, I don't seem to be getting any coolant in the crankcase.

The main questions I still have are one: you reckon it's hydro-lock causing the no-spin? two: if it's hydro-lock, how is the coolant getting into the cylinder? three: why does it only happen when the engine is shut down during low temperatures? It never happens in the summer. four: is it an urgent matter? can I get by with not shutting down during extreme cold? —idle when I'm taking my breaks? five: if it takes a turn for the worse, will it keep doing so gradually or will it suddenly cause bad engine damage?

These are questions that someone might be able to answer if they've gone through a similar situation with their series 60.

You think it might be fuel leaking in instead of coolant?

Either could cause hydro-lock, I reckon, but then there's the matter that I do need to add a lot of coolant, constantly, so it must be going somewhere.

If it’s fuel you should be able to smell it and they’ll be a ton of smoke. Seeing as your using water you probably wouldn’t smell it but still have smoke.
