That's true. Never seen might have been a bit of an exaggeration, but, they're not real common out here except the out-of-state guys passing through. I believe Apex and Titan have 3-3-3s at the moment of the local crews. A 2-3-2 in Colorado is the biggest practical trailer to run. Your empty weight is still low enough to use a lot of the capacity of the trailer. Buddy of mine tows one on a regular basis (I was taught to drive around heavy haul in Colorado). I've seen 800 Hitachi's scaled on a 2-3-2 here (counterweight, stick, bucket, and crown cylinder removed).
If the work is there to keep a 3-3-3 busy, buying it is a good choice, question is, how much work (for someone like the OP) is there for a 3-3-3. Typically the places moving machines and pieces of that size have long-time relationships with the contractors they work with moving this stuff.
