13 speed shift pattern confusion, how did I miss this?

That gear is low for starting off on the low side, it doesn’t get used on the high side unless you like spending money on rebuilds or doing the labor of a rebuild/swap

 

That's what I've been told it's weaker, not meant for full torque. Just don't use it is the answer. I wouldn't risk it because you don't wanna flip the button back down

I start off in Low a lot of the time esp if im heavy. That's how you go a million plus on clutch and trans. And that's why we have so many autos now

 

The highest gear I start of in is 3rd. Only time I do that is bobtail or with an empty trailer.

 

Even empty trailer I start in 1st. Even bobtail 1st. My 14613 old school double over has a very high 1st gear.

 

The only time I use 1st is bob tail, other then that with the 18 I start in low and just skip gears

 

That's how i do it if im in the 99 with a mack 18sp

 

1st in the 93 feels like 2nd high with the mack 18

 

I despise the maxi torque 18s, however you could use low low reverse though and get out of the truck, grab a beer, un do the turn buckles on the body, walk back over and grab a slice of pizza, grab another beer, then hop back on the cab and still have 50’ to back up still they were geared so low

 

I use that gear pretty much every night I'm in the truck and multiple times per night, for the last 3 years. Normally don't put a lot of power to it when I'm in that gear, it's just handy, faster and easier than flipping down to the low side.

 

I've seen 3 patterns for the 10.

Is there any other pattern for the 13/18?
