The torque is not to high for you trans unless your abusing it. Their are a lot of guy that drag race and truck pull putting over 3000FT LBS through 1850 and 2050 Roadrangers with no problems.
How many miles are on your truck? Why dose it need a clutch? As far as a rebuild because of hard shifting I would make sure the problen isnt just wore out parts in the shift tower. Your talking a few hundred dollars compaired to a few thousand dollars.
As far as swaping to an 18 speed. Unless you grossing over 100k LBS on a regular basis or do a lot off off road or construction sites you dont need it. If you were going to replace you current trans with a reman and the price were very close to the same then maby I would do it. Just remember unless your going to get a higher torque raited model like an 1850 or 2050 theirs no differance in strength ( their are 1650 18 speeds ) and this will cost more for the reman trans. Truth is their is little or no strenght differance between the different torque raitings. The differences are very minor and some their are no differance at all. Just ask any drive line shop that rebuilds them. On most the shafts, bearings, bushings, and gears are all the same. Some times their are minor differances but their are all very close.
Unless you can get an 18 speed for very close to the same price as the 13 rebuilt or reman replacement just keep your 13. Rember make sure it realy needs a full rebuild before spending all that money.

Let me know how the pedal feels with that clutch if its harder to push down. When mine goes out thats what I am thinking about getting.

This was a lease truck, I don't know if it was abused by previous drivers. It has 773967 miles on it.

I drive for ATS, there is always a possibility of heavy loads.

I would replace it only if it needed to be rebuilt and the cost made it feasible.

What clutch should I get? What else should I get done while it is apart"

I have checked out prices of some 18 speeds, they are in my price range.

    Which transmission?

    RTLO-18918B
    RTLO-20918B
    RTLO-22918B

I do not have a heavy haul truck. to go with truely heavy weights I may have to put in frame inserts and other upgrades I am unaware of at this point.

It is a little harder to push. The feel when pushing it is weird also. The release is nice though. I'm anxious to see what its like with a load on it.

Don't know what motor you have but if your not looking at building real big HP the 18918 should be alright. I'd also check the final gear ratio on the ones ending in B. For some reason I was thinking they had a top gear of .86 not .73.

Had my trans rebuilt 290K back, and shop installed that Lipe, I don't think I'll use any other brand now.

My Lipe was easier, much easier! I think my old clutch had a problem, though - something about those little springs, I remember the rebuild shop asking if I had experienced any problems with the clutch.

No the "B" is a double over. I believe their use to be an "A" that was direct drive though. Its not produced any more.

I could be wrong about the "A". Im the first admit I dont know it all. I do know their use to be an 18 direct but its not made anymore. Theirs no 13 direct anymore either and the RTLO is definetly an OD.
