Dispatch calls me this morning at 0730 to tell me that my truck is back in the yard. That's great I tell her but I can't get there until tonight so I'll have to launch in the morning. She asks why and I tell her that my wife left for work an hour ago and we only have one car right now.

Had she called me last night before she left at 1800 (like she said she would) to let me know the truck would be there this morning, we could have made arrangements to get me there.

Not happy and will be having a long talk with my FM about this when she's in tomorrow.

1800? Most of them are sprinting to their car when the clock hits 1700.

thats the main problem with dispatch, on 7/4 7/3 home time fleet we have two dispatchers that work with us. You work with one person for two days then the other one comes on, and if there have been issues with the load or the truck is in the shop
nobody knows whats going on. You would think that every time there is a delay or repair or detension that they would document that on the current load that you are on. But they dont. Why ?

I would like to hear from meltom on this subject. Why isnt there any communication and or notes and documintation on your current load. Good grief you people have this huge computer system and quallcom and truck pc ,but when dispatchers go home for the night or for thier day off no one knows whats going on !

The driver has to be accountable for heck of a lot out here and I think dispatchers and
fleet managers should be accountable for information from the driver to each other in the office. Also do these people all take a course incomplete or vauge answers ?

Everett, Shotsjc and notezbngrn71 Thank this.

They are sent to the same school that our elected officials go through. There they learn to avoid questions, or give an answer that is so grey, you really still have no idea what do do. Oh, wait, my FM is not like that... Sorry you guys have these problems, you should take it up with your FOM, and see it you can get it fixed that way. There is room for notes in the dispatch system, but it is limited. They could just as easily send the next guy an email with the information, that is how most all communication happens in Marshfield anyway. I think I once saw meltom email the FOM that was sitting behind him...:biggrin_255:

I am starting training on May 7th. I chose 14/7 Hometime with terminal in Bensalem, PA. It's about 100 miles from Baltimore but there is a train close by. I will end up taking a train and then bus home. Anybody else who does that?
