I can only speak to the 15615 series (which I've rebuilt for my truck). They had 2 different shift covers. You could essentially swap the covers and have top gear either against the dash or to the rear, regardless if being a direct or OD transmission.

I’ve never seen one,nor do I remember finding any of them when we were looking at swapping our last ten speed out (went to an rtlo13), sure it wasn’t just the top cover? my uncles 96 has an rto 156-15 with the dash slapper and that was one of or the last year for them as far as I knew

do you remember the model number? That would be news to me all I could find for the rtlos were 167/9 13 or 18 and up. We actually had to use an old cover on the 13 Because it had a meritor trans that wouldn’t work so that shifts like the old rtoo 13s, That truck also just has a little c12 in it but with 4.33s it doesn’t do half bad.

    I’d still rather a 13 or an 18.

I had a 1998 Century with the 15 over, it had the standard H pattern.
Heard of the early ones with top gear against the dash. In 2004 I did a road test for a new job. Guy had an older W900. I could see him getting ready to laugh, expecting me to try and go from 8 to 9 up top. But I got it right heading for the bottom and he looked disappointed.
I thought 15 over top gear was 0.79

    Diamond Reo Thanks this.

Yea wasn’t paying attention to the next page.

I don’t think they ever did the low inertia main shaft with them either though

    Diamond Reo Thanks this.
