I have been searching the web and found a couple semis with 15 speed trans but with a 4 speed aux. Could someone shed a little more light on these transmissions because they look Awesome! were they retrofits or could it be a factory option?
15x4 Twin stick trans?

Sounds like something you'd see in a wrecker or an oil field truck.
Either special orders or retro fits. -
sounds like a 5x4 twin stick never heard of a 15x4

This is the link to the video i saw of it. very cool! -
My Dad had a couple of trucks with 10 X 4 set ups. When the 4 or 5 speed main box went bad he replaced it with a 10 speed Roadranger. In effect it gives you a 13 speed. You have 2 lower gears in the Brownie when you are in 1st, and when you get to 10th you have another higher gear to kick it into. The splits are also closer in the Brownie so you can get a half gear if you are in a situation where you need to.
If you did a 15 speed with a Bownie you would have some seriously low gears. -
The one in the video looks like a regular 13,18 or 15spd and they put an extra stick in for the high low, alot of guys do this to have the old 2 stick look, I've never heard of a 15spd with a 4spd aux. There's 4x4's, 5 and 4's, 6 and 4's and many diffrent mack 2 sticks.

Yeah, he only shifted the 2nd stick once...I'm thinkin it's a range selector on a stick instead of a switch.

Who cares? Do they make more money?Boardhauler Thanks this.

Who cares If it does or doesn't if the driver is happy with it then by god let him have his twin stick. Too many people are caught up with MONEY MONEY MONEY. If I was in the right financial position id rather make a few bucks less driving a 800hp peterbilt with a twin stick and take pride in my equipment and job, than be miserable inside a cookie cutter volvo with a anorexic d13 motor and plastic everywhere.prenn and American-Trucker Thank this.

and im not buying a semi now NO!! i was just wanting more information because it peaked my interest. I have no need for a 15x4 or a 10 speed for that matter i run a small scale test truck company so m11s with 9speeds work just fine for me
