I emailed them and explained that the shippers and receivers are the problem. They replied back with the talking points. They are definitely in bed with someone who wants the 16hr rule. I told them I would not be signing their petition.

Your time has no value to shipper or reciever. If you are out of on duty hours waiting all day to load then you have nothing to drive on and have to get 10 hours on the property. Hence the postings on TTR recently about running out of hours and getting kicked out of shippers.... -
All type slowly. HOS are there to control drivers not shippers. The government could careless that you have to wait their only concern is that you are well “rested”. HOS are in place to control drivers. HOS are not in place to control shippers. Shippers have not changed since back when you could “only” drive ten hours. Your time had no value then either. They are not going to change unless they have to and it should not be the governments job to make them. Trucking companies should make them. The government will only make things worse. It can be done. Where I’m at it’s $77 an hour after the first hour. They pay it no questions.

So you're fine with them running out your clock leaving you no way to legally leave, being able to demand you leave anyway and being able to have your truck towed at your expense if you refuse? You're against if they have not released you within 2 hours of your appointment time you being able to have your truck towed if you cannot legal leave to a safe and secure parking facility at their expense? So you're for the government forcing you to accept companies doing things to your determent, but against them forcing companies to do things to your benefit?

Is it your reading comprehension or my typing? NO IT’S NOT OK FOR SHIPPERS TO SCREW DRIVERS!! But it should not be the place of the government to interfere. Trucking companies should grow a pair and make it happpen. I don’t think this bs of two hours free is any good either. A truck should be paid from appointment time until the bills are signed and the trailer sealed.
PS I’m against HOS as a dot rule it should be department of labor. -
I work enough hours.
How about hourly pay and overtime after 40,like everyone else?StrokerTSi, peterd, Makeajump and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't want sit 2 more hours for free. Just make them pay after 2 hours for detention pay. If they can't load the truck we can come back the next day and they can keep paying detention pay till they load the truck. If they don't want to pay then release the truck after 2 hours and driver can go park for the night or get another load if they have time available.
