I just picked up a D2 w/ digital controller for $875 + free shipping. Has everything for the install and I am going to do it myself to eliminate any installation related problems in the future. After reading a ton on the D2 regarding maintenance and troubleshooting, it seems that most problems people have stem from an installation error or poor maintenance.
icsheeple Thanks this. -
You will want the Maxwell UltraCapacitor (ESM) installed too!!! Without the ESM, you'll notice within 4 weeks, your voltmeter will be showing low current & the bunk heater will turn off due to low voltage. (then, you must idle the truck). To eliminate that issue install ESM. ThermoKing in Perrysburg, Oh. (Toledo) was running a special for the Espar D-2 @ 1200.(installed)

I'm interested in an item like that, what's it called?

Pool6710 did mention no way of getting the truck to high idle after start up. I've heard of guys with pickups getting an auto high idle, but I don't think it's an option for the big trucks... Yet.

I'm still interested in such a device. Something with auto start/stop like an apu would be awesome.

JAX Peterbilt wanted $3200 to even think about putting one in my K100.
