    He's justifying his existence.

You made him a hero down at the station house.

It is what it is. Lawyer up, prepare to crack your wallet for I'll guess in the neighborhood of $3K to $5K, more if you go trial, and hope for the best.

In my state any speeding ticket 15 or more MPH over the posted limit is Reckless Driving.

The only ticket I've ever gotten in my career was on that F Grapevine.

    Third lane.

CHP officer was the biggest, racist prick I've ever crossed in all law enforcement.

Going by your profile I am assuming you live in Tenn. I took the time to search for and look through Tenn code § 55-10-205. I could find no other Tenn Code that covers this. I see no specific code that says 15 over and it's automatically reckless. What I see is covered by section (a),
    (a) Any person who drives any vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property commits reckless driving.
This tells me the cop and the courts have a wide amount of discretion on how to charge. I know the Georgia Code on this and I would be willing to bet most other state's reckless driving laws mirror Tenn and Ga.

This was how it was explained to me some time ago. Simple speeding is one thing, but where you speed is another. Going 71 in a 55 out on I 40 is different than driving 50 MPH in a 30 MPH zone in the middle of Nashville.

I'm not going to get into an argument on this. If there is another code section that covers this I missed I am man enough to say I was wrong. Still, I linked to the Tenn code as well as the Georgia code. I don't see 15 over and it's reckless.

As to the CDLIS regardless of how it gets back to the CDLIS. Reckless or 15 over both are 383.51 table 2 violations that will get you a 60-day vacation if you commit another offense found in table 2.

So what are you saying that you don't deserve a ticket? or are you doubting whether you were going the speed the officer claimed you were going? You've already admitted that you were going over 60 mph with is already 10 mph above the speed limit. My advice would be to just pay the fine the lawyer is going to cost you much more, unless its not about the money but keeping your record squeaky clean which its not really is it? People who claim they've never had a ticket doesn't mean that they've never ever gone over the limit it either means they've never been caught or have gone to the trouble of paying lawyers huge amounts of money to make sure their record stays clean. When you get into trouble what helps is thinking about all the times where you've gotten away with a ticket and maybe now its all starting to even out.

Basically, in simple terms, the inspection report is like a “packing slip” for his speeding citation which he sign(citation/ticket). I would take the time and go to court. Keep getting extensions until they say no more…. Then go to court or write the court a letter saying if they can reduce the speed and you pay the fine.

I got one for 77 in a 55. 22mph over the speed limit. Unless the cop wrote you for wreckless on top of speeding not an issue. Get one of the fix it ticket places to go to court for you. Most of the time they will try and make it a non moving violation. Worst case it usually gets reduced to a lesser speed. You do need to tell your company. If you don't that will give them reason to let you go. If they fire you before a conviction they are wrong. Do whatever to try and get it off your record. No other company will hire you with that on your record. Others take note, your license is your career. Protect it at all cost. The few minutes you save and little extra money you may make is all gone with one citation and maybe your career. Even worse, the life you take or lose will cost you your freedom. These are not toys. Drive defensively. Your life and freedom depends on it.
