    In the manuals for Eaton trannys with that type of split it says to preselect, even the Super 10. Best to do what Eaton says, at least that way you know you were doing it right if some thing fails. Be good, be careful. Holler at us when you get back from MD.

    You go on Roadranger's website and there are a couple videos on the best way to shift with the splitter.

    I always preselect but just before I shift (fraction of a second) because you are loading the splitter shifter assembly and that's a little extra wear not needed.

    Perhaps a stupid question, but here goes;

    Im from europe, and as far as i know, we dont have 18speed trucks.. 16 manual or 12 automatic is the normal.. a 16 manual normally have 4 low and 4 high, all with split gears, total of 16. How can you have 18 total? i mean, naturally you dont have 4 and a half low, 4 and a half high, hehe..
    Please explain it :)

    sure we do... Finnish Sisu trucks uses Fullers, Ivecos used to have too.
    16+ two reverse makes 18 :)
    so actually we have 20 speeds over here...

    here´s one good australian(?) clip... god I love them K10´s in Aussie version as they are up to date and with them "european" BPW heavy duty axles...

    Both the 13 speed and the 18 speed are based on the 9 speed, which appears to be a 10 speed but high on the low side is the same ratio as low on the high side. There are ten gears available in forward but only nine different ratios. The splitter can be used on all the ratios on 18 speeds, and only on the high side with a 13. You can also split reverse with the 18 speed, meaning you can get a gear thats really slow backing up that is just not available on most other transmission. I hope that the explanation helped.
