I was reading an article that there really isnt as much a shortage of drivers as the media wants you to believe. It gave some pretty good stats so I can believe that's true. So why lower the driver age? I guess it could be for health purposes but lowering the start age would actually lower the average age so it would appear that truck drivers die even younger. Politicians love their stats. No way would they make statistics look like that. I think part of it is that as we get older we lose our ability to be flexible. So that makes older drivers less reliable in their results. This industry bends you like a pretzel. But as you get older, you find that less tolerable. I think they aren't looking for health. They are looking for flexibility.
