    Hey everyone,

My grandfather has a heavily customized 1961 Autocar that has been sitting in his garage unmoved since 2001 when he went into the hospital for colon cancer. The garage roof collapsed early this fall and we are now trying to unload the contents of the garage, which includes a 1953 TD-18 payloader, two bulldozers and a 1961 Autocar, along with so many old tools and repair equipment/parts it would likely be an old timers dream come true...maybe. I have no idea what to do with any of this stuff and our souls will be crushed to just junk all this. I'm wondering if anyone has resources for me in MN that I could get in contact with to come and maybe value the trucks, or sell for parts/restoration. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. From a time when men were men and trucks were trucks. I'm from Wis. , what did Gramps do with this truck? In '61, Autocar was already a White product, aside from Mack, probably the 2nd toughest truck made. I've driven these setback type behemoths, ( IH, Hendrickson) and they are a chore to drive, to say the least but at the time, I bet this was one sharp truck. I bet she's got "Armstrong steering", a 250 Cummins and a 10 speed. Not many drivers today could get this thing out the gate today or would quit if they were told to drive it.

Haha, yeah Gramps was a tough one, he made everything around the house, and when it broke he was sure to fix it up better than it was in the first place. I don't think he ever drove commercially, but I'm going to get some more clarification this weekend from gamma. That's an old Willys Jeep in the background, shows the two rig he made and and attached himself. And of course the frontend of the trusty ol Autocar! Still miss you gramps! jan_1980.jpg

Looks a bit like Claude Akins. Love the "winter front". Any of you cushy drivers that trucked in the south, have no idea what guys like us put up with. By the time I started,( 70's) we already had blended fuel and air dryers, but gramps here did it the hard way, and we owe a lot to guys like this.
