Actually that's close to the same setup as the one I'm looking at. I love a BC Cummins. That's what my 359 had and if you take care of em like you are supposed to can get good service out of em. Cheap to fix compared to the new stuff or even a B model cat of the same vintage. I'm more concerned with body parts if needed. Everybody makes after market 359 and A model kW stuff. This one won't be a working truck just something to show off and take to the local shows.

There still out there, getting parts isn't that hard yet, but may be the next rise in scrap price.

I know it is not going to fix your starting troubles, but I would check for an air bubble in your fuel filter or better yet change the fuel filter sometimes this would give you the surging and rpm hanging you described while driving

I was told there is a man up around Cleveland or Toledo that still has a lot of IH NOS in a big building. I need to remember who was telling me this... said he bought a NOS door for his 1950's? IH truck for a $400 from this guy.

I put a charger on it used a volt meter to test... I agree with the change out... Did that on my 78 when i bought it just to have all new...i just cant understand why it fired right off everytime while looking at it.... Drove it home... Now nothing.... Just not wanting to throw money needlessly....

Exactly my thought...different... Plus less nonsense computer and emissions garbage to muddle up the works...love seeing the old trucks making a comeback. Someday when i find one i plan to buy and restore for show a 66 or so Autocar...first truck i ever drove..i was 15 on a family farm..

I was thinking fuel pump also.

Thats supposed to be a natural breathing engine under there with hardly no computer stuff. If you feed it fuel, she will run wild. lots of fuel? oh boy...

The starter, battery etc is something else. I don't recall enough from my days in those particular trucks to consider anything else besides voltmeter. Did you notice you were draining electric?
