Go back to when you smelled the wires burning was there any extra racket going on, I think the starter may have hung up and kept spinning with the motor running making that smell.

If the bendix failed to release it's gone for sure.

The selenoid would take a rap of a hammer first if it was me before anything. The old mack Selenoids actually could take a bic pen rammed from below to crank... I don't recall enough of the cabover, lord knows I spent part my life in and under those things... to be certain.

Makes sense. When truck raced at the yield sign, i turned the key off thinking it would shut down the engine...but it didnt. Thats when i began smelling electrical...like maybe the starter was engaging....got a trusted, honest mechanic Ive used for about a year now coming to take a look see...will post the findings...

that suggests the ignition switch failed, leaving the circuit to the solenoid for fuel shutoff energized. or melted and energized via a different circuit. did you say the batteries were running dead on you too?

When the truck raced at the stop sign, are you sure it's not a typical unloading behavior of a engine whose clutch is just depressed?

Do you understand what I am asking exactly?

No. At first i thought i was just having trouble getting familiar with shift pattern rpm...but when i would shift the rpms would race whether up or downshift and stick until i worked the clutch to them down.

Hm. I hear you. Im still stuck on that problem. Either you had a spike electric power on the fuel pump orsomething else. But trucks generally don't spike. They drain.

Just wait till you get starter working before you send the inj. pump off to get rebuilt you do not want too have it to far apart?
