Was talking to another buddy yesterday that had his C-16 built by my Cat guru for his western star glider last year. It's radical at around 1000 hp. He uses the block out of a 980 Cat loader for the foundation, then builds off off that platform. Bigger cam, matched injectors, the list goes on. End result is big hp, big dollars, continuous problems, etc.

I'll stick to less hp and continuous service personally.

 

There's no thinking about it, ny, nj, wherever... those smoke & mirror tests are for emissions engines, they don't need to be sticking that thing down my stacks, it won't make anybody happy. I just do what i have to to not get involved in that process, been well over 18 years since the last opacity test i got corralled into.

 

My problem with big hp is I can't behave. If I had 800+ I'd want to play with it. That breaks stuff.

 

Breaks stuff, my good friend just ran his work truck at antrim, it did 1138hp to the tires on his work tune. He hauls permitted steel loads.

My '86 done same thing...
Inside balancer is a rubber ring, if its worn... Balancer will wobble.

Also theres several diff balancers for a '86 3406b
