Well heck this isnt my first thread about this truck project. It's my baby. I'll admit the issue with putting the big cam in there back fired and i got burned from it depressed and down. Kinda gave up a bit.

    ( Big cam 3 400 )

Well early 2023 i switched from reefer otr to livestock regional and income went up pretty good enough i could actually find a good engine, buy a new clutch a rebuilt tranny etc etc. This thread will be a pretty rich with pictures.

I am not a mechanic i don't know what I'm doing i don't claim to know what I'm doing so don't be too mean i can understand things how they operate by taking them apart or watching videos or taking advice from fellow members. I don't have a shop i don't have thousands dollar tools i got my gophers and a good woman that'll help with anything.

Going to start uploading pictures soon.

This is my baby. My first truck and my highway wife. 1985 W900B she was stretched to 290" wheelbase or about that. She's rocking a 3406b 7cx (4mg junk yard find 400hp that came out of a ford that came out of something else prior to that) with a 13 speed tranny with a updated 15.5 inch flywheel. She was re skinned at Walworks a few years before i bought it. Still rocking 24.5 studd piloted wheels. Ag100 suspension with no air ride on cab or sleeper....

So far we installed the engine, reground flywheel, installed new eaton easy pedal, installed 141613 tranny... i put old starter back in. Installed old alternator, ac pump etc brand new bendex fan hub, swapped power steering pump, replaced fuel lines, put new thermostat in.

I have yet to put grounding straps on but when i installed the batteries i am getting power to everything. You can take power probe to everything and you pick up power. What's going on? Is it from not having grounding straps?

I’m not following you. What grounding straps?
Do you have the factory ground cables hooked to the batteries?

These are from few weeks later. Thank God for Minnesota mild winter this year. Kiddos cleaned and degreased the engine bay. Lot of oil and grease. Just looks wrong without a hood and engine. Brought the old tranny in for a core and Picked up my 3406b i bought in my ram. Was top heavy ride home. Wife got the flywheel resurfaced. It's the 15.5 inch new style not the ole style hard to find clutches. Got most of the air bags removed and put new ones in with new mounts. Still have the back two to do.

Another 800$ wrecker visit. Well worth it. Got the engine installed. Wife picked up tranny while i was up north enjoying the northern lights. Spent the money and got a flywheel and clutch jack. They are worth the money. Save your back. I'll continue this tomorrow have to haul sows in the morning.

I gave up on mine a few years ago too. Deciding whether to hold on to it, sell the pieces or just scrap it.

Took help of my boy a few of my moms kids we got the tranny in. Had to pull it out. Redid the bad helicoils that my idiot self didn't check... someone previously did a bad job on it. I fixed it properly. More tools more parts... went and actually got threaded inserts as ultimately they fudged the hole bad.. taught william how to run a tap and how to install inserts. Hopefully good memories for him. We tightened up the engine mount bolts to. Next stage was to start doing heavy lifting after scraping the engine down to high temp primer and paint and high temp clear coats

A friend had a IH that had rubbed a spot through the insulation on one of the positive leads against the frame. It was enough to have measurable power all over the cab and frame.
