If it’s truly a 400.... there seems to be more 400 Cummins than Carter has liver pills.
When I bought my W900L Glider I was told the replacement engine was a 400, took a injector out to check the part number, then pulled a head to check the piston part number....
Turbo / Injector / piston all came back for a 315-350 horse engine.
that’s why I usually go with the pump code lol, but it could be like mine made of different CPL numbersShawn2130, Dino soar and jamespmack Thank this. -
I did notice the truck body tag says it’s supposed to be a 444.
The 196800 was the go to for the replacement for 290’s up to the 444’s for many years and is still available. So it couldn’t hurt anything and he shouldn’t go wrong with it. Works better with a dual outlet pulse manifold but it is not required. I have noticed that it will even show a little manifold psi sometimes with the Jakes on. 7 psi at most.
The one I have on my sc 350 came off a bc 290 that was built to a 400. Probably a million on it and still blowing. Lol!Dino soar, n4ane and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
Well I tried to look when daylight came for the pump code and unfortunately someone painted over it and doesn't look like it was stamped on i took a couple of pictures I will post
